You Can Build A Better Brain
Alright, fair warning. This is going to get a bit nerdy.
But stick with me as I’m going to make this as short, sweet, and fun as humanly possible.
And the implications and real-world practicality of all this cannot be overstated.
Especially if you want to learn how to dramatically improve your current level of focus, clarity, and energy.
Simply put, once you learn this stuff your life will never be the same again. In a good way.
Because what we’re about to dive into is the actual science proving you CAN build a better brain.
And as we’ve already discussed here (The Secret Of The World’s Highest Achievers) building a better brain is the secret to building a better life and attaining a (lasting) state of peak performance.
As an added bonus, simply by reading and learning this now you’re actually already positively rewiring your brain for greater performance. So kudos!
Alright, let’s dive in.
You, but better.
What if I told you that however you currently think, remember, and behave… you could do it better.
I’m talking about:
- More focus
- More attention
- More concentration
- More creativity
- More emotional resilience
- More drive
- More willpower
- More energy
- More confidence
- And more happiness.
Sound too good to be true?
Well for years people thought it was “too good to be true” and so we wrongly believed that the brains we were born with were the brains we were stuck with.
Lucky enough to be born with great genes and a high IQ? Congrats! Life’s gonna be great!
Unlucky enough to be born with ADD, anxiety, and an inability to focus? Sorry! Better luck next time.
Fortunately. They were wrong.
Your brain can change. And the science proves it.
So with all that said, I’m pleased to introduce you to my two friends, neuroplasticity and neurogenesis.
First, let’s cover the (boring) dictionary terms:
neu·ro·plas·tic·i·ty
/ˌn(y)o͝orōˌplaˈstisədē/
noun
the ability of the brain to form and reorganize synaptic connections, especially in response to learning or experience or following injury.
neu·ro·gen·e·sis
/ˌn(y)o͝orōˈjenəsəs/
noun
PHYSIOLOGY
the growth and development of nervous tissue.
So here’s what that actually means:
Neuroplasticity: Your brain’s ability to learn and create new connections
Neurogenesis: Your brain’s ability to actually grow new brain cells.
And these are very, VERY good things. Because it means that wherever you’re at right now – you can be even better.
Are You Living With Untapped Potential?
Here’s why this is so exciting for you to be reading this right now.
The science is so new most people aren’t even aware this exists yet.
And of the small percentage of people who do know about it… most of them don’t realize (or at the very least aren’t using) its full potential.
This means billions of people around the world are going about their lives with untapped potential in the tank.
They’re operating at a level far below what they’re truly capable of and they don’t even know it!
This bears repeating:
Wherever you’re at right now – you can be even better.
And neuroplasticity and neurogenesis prove its possible.
So let’s quickly touch on the science of these two bad boys so we can get to the good stuff (how to actually use it to upgrade your brain)
Neuroplasticity: Use it or lose it
I’m sure you’ve heard the term “use it or lose it before”
Well nowhere is this more appropriate than when it comes to your brain.
If you follow a plan that focuses on building new connections, pathways, and networks – you get better, smarter, and faster.
If we take a quick hop back in time to 1949 we find a fellow by the name of Donald Hebb.
Not just a sharp dresser, Hebb was responsible for the phrase (now popular among Brain Upgraders)
“neurons that fire together wire together.”
This is what we’re talking about when we focus on building new connections, pathways, and networks.
The flip side of this, however, is a term called “Neural Darwinism” or “Neural Pruning”
Simply put, ignore these same connections, pathways, and networks, and well… you end up like most people… with your Standard issue brain.
One of the key aspects of neural plasticity is called Neural Darwinism, or “neural pruning,” which means that any neuron that isn’t ‘fired-and-wired’ together into a network is likely to be extinguished. – Christopher Bergland
The takeaway point on neuroplasticity is this: It works, it’s important, and it can’t (and shouldn’t) be ignored.
AND (most importantly) with the right strategy you can dramatically increase your brain’s neuroplasticity making you better, faster, and smarter (but more on this later)
Neurogenesis: The Solution To A Misspent Youth
OK. So we’ve covered the science of making the brain cells you already have work better.
Now it’s time to talk about amplifying this effect by creating even MORE new brain cells.
Whether you’re rectifying a misspent youth… (If I could turn back time… I’d probably have spent a few less hours in the bar and a few more hours reading)
Or whether you just want to take the good brain you have… and make it great…
Neurogenesis can help. It’s also pretty darn exciting as Courtney Ackerman points out:
You can see how neurogenesis is the more exciting concept. It’s one thing to work with what we already have, but the potential to actually replace neurons that have died may open up new frontiers in the treatment and prevention of dementia, recovery from traumatic brain injuries, and other areas we probably haven’t even thought of.
There are a number of ways to promote neurogenesis (and we’ll cover a proven system shortly) but the main point I want to make sure I get across is this: just like with neuroplasticity, it works, it’s important, and it can’t (and shouldn’t) be ignored.
You CAN build a better brain. And the science of neuroplasticity and neurogenesis proves it.
But just knowing about it isn’t enough. So let’s talk about how to put this to use so you can tap into “Genius Mode” at will.

- It IS possible to upgrade your brain for better focus, clarity, and energy
- The brain you were born with is not the brain you’re stuck with (you can improve intelligence, speed, clarity, and executive function, and more…)
- Dramatic improvements in mental performance are available and yours for the taking (and most people don’t even know this science exists)
- The key to a better brain is neuroplasticity and neurogenesis
