Email Marketing Basics

Email marketing is still without a doubt one of the most effective ways to drive sales and increase revenues.

The fact is, email marketing works.

It doesn’t matter whether you’re in a business to consumer (B2C) or a business to business (B2B) market, the fact is, the people you’re trying to reach all likely use email.

What’s an email list?

An email list is a list of people who have signed up to receive emails from you.

The most important part here is that they’ve given you permission to contact them through their email accounts which means they actually do want to hear from you.

Typically, these email addresses are managed through a software service that allows you to keep them organized and send out messages to all of them at the same time.

This saves you an incredible amount of time, and also allows you to track which messages were opened, which weren’t, and if any were marked as spam.

Why build an email list?

Aside from the staggeringly high 4300% return on investment, what makes email marketing so special is that unlike almost every other marketing channel out there, email gives you direct access to your customers.

This means you can create a message specifically for them and have it delivered straight to their inbox at the click of a button.

Also, if they signed up for your email list, it means they likely want to hear from you.

So you’ve basically been given permission to continue to contact your customers over and over.

And if you continue to provide good content, they’ll continue to appreciate it.

Email is also an everyday part of our lives now, and most people check it at least once a day.

Not only that, most people now check it wherever they are from their phones which means you have the opportunity to reach your customers every day, no matter where they are.

Email marketing also offers a level of protection by giving you your customers contact details and access to them just in case your favourite social media channel ever decided to close…

Finally, email marketing is extremely easy to use.
